Mary Cassatt

The only American invited to exhibit with the Impressionists, Cassatt's paintings and color aquatints of mothers and children—tender, modern, psychologically acute, influenced by Japanese woodblock prints—made her the most distinguished American female painter of her era. Her color prints achieve above $3 million; major oil paintings command considerably more.
