Albrecht Dürer (German, 1471-1528) Hercules (B. 73; M., Holl. 63), c. 1498 Engraving on laid paper, watermark High Crown (M. 20), a good Meder II a/b impression, before the scratch on Hercules' right calf and the lines across the jawbone, trimmed to the platemark but retaining a fillet of blank paper outside the borderline on all four sides, in good condition aside from foxing, horizontal folding crease through center of sheet, several repaired tears, 1/2in tear and tack hole at upper left sheet corner, 3/8in loss along lower sheet edge, short tears along sheet edges, adhesive staining showing through to recto, white tape remains along upper and right sheet edges, verso, adhesive and clear tape remains at sheet corners, verso, framed. sheet 12 1/2 x 8 3/4in
