In 1961, he began painting comic figures such as Batman and Superman in his works. Two years later, he devoted himself to the depiction of pin-up girls, as he assumed that the presentation of provocative female sexuality, similar to advertising, would be more marketable. These "commercial pin-ups" became his trademark for decades. Mel Ramos' works are in all important collections, especially in American museums. Ramos, Mel Contemporary Art
