Catalog summary
Bernard Leijs Bernard LEIJS (Born 1934) - Happé - Oil on paper mounted on card - Signed and dated 19(90) lower right - 139 x 98 cm (à vue) Note: Curious characters with long, elastic limbs populate his works, in sometimes grotesque postures, like disjointed puppets. The viewer sees them dancing, gathered around a grave or chatting over a cup of coffee. The artist sets the scene with a play of bold, varied colors.
