Questo lavoro di grattare il rame o lo zinco è veramento fatto per me e questa passione mi ha perseguito fino ad avere ancora - venti o trent'anni dopo - una netta influenza sulla mia pittura, specialmente negli anni 1961 a 1965, in cui ho preso l'abitudine di grattare , con diversi strumenti, nell'impasto fresco dei colori, colori spesso scuri."
