Robert Mapplethorpe 'ajitto' signed, dated, and numbered '3/15' by the photographer in ink in the margin, flush-mounted, his copyright stamp, signed and dated by him in ink, and titled and numbered '3/15' and '(MAP) 574' in an unidentified hand in pencil or ink, on the reverse, matted, framed, 1981, no. 3 in an edition of 15 (Whitney, p. 98; Black Book , frontispiece; The Perfect Moment , p. 72; Classical Tradition , pl. 18) Condition This photograph is in generally excellent condition. There is a tiny deposit of indeterminate nature, possibly retouching, near the bottom edge of the print. There is a tiny curved line of original retouching in the lower left quadrant near the lower left edge.
