Literature
Pierre Nahon, L'Histoire de la Galerie Beaubourg , Paris, 2009, p. 280, illustrated in colour Condition Good overall condition. The glass top presents with some surface scratches consistent with age and use. The gilt bronze base presents with some scattered surface scratches and a deeper scratch on the top of approximately 16 cm. There are a few remnants of polish, mostly concentrated to the recessed areas. The gilt bronze presents with some light surface oxidation, a few rather small oxidation stains and with some vert-de-gris in the recessed areas. "In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective, qualified opinion. Prospective buyers should also refer to any Important Notices regarding this sale, which are printed in the Sale Catalogue. NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF BUSINESS PRINTED IN THE SALE CATALOGUE." Catalogue Note I wanted to do a free expansion that would express the language of material as much. I restricted myself to directing the flow. I wanted it to be undulatory, massive – something sensual and compact, like a wave forming in the sea. César
