Condition
The canvas and stretcher are in good condition; the canvas is supported by an eight-member stretcher. There are areas of minor drying and feather cracking to the black paint in places throughout and minor rubbing to the extreme corners, only visible under close inspection. There is some retouching covering some of the drying cracks in placesand to the feather crack to the centre of the work. These retouchings do not fluoresce under ultra violet light. By the nature of their application, it is thought that these retouchings may have been applied by the artist. There are two small spots that fluoresce under ultra violet light to the middle right of the work, above the shoe.
